Hackers tampered with emails themselves

The emails between British and American top scientists, published by hackers and allegedly proving that information about climate change was tampered with, are taken out of context and even forged, it is revealed.

Server hacked
Last weekend it came out that a server of the reputed department of climate change (CRU) of the university of East Anglia has been hacked. A Russian website published the emails, which allegedly prove that scientists were lying about climate change. They even published excerpts of the emails on a website. Now it has been revealed that the content of these emails have in fact been manipulated.

Most emails have been changed and many paragraphs are used so completely out of context that they acquire a different meaning.

"Too bad for fans of conspiricies"
The CRU keeps track of long term changes in temperature and plays an important role in gathereing information for reports by the United Nations.

"Too bad for conspiracy fabs, but the Royal Society, the US National Academy of sciences, NASA and the worlds most reputed climate specialists turn out to not be lead actors in a clandestine global movement to manipulate the truth. The incident has generated quite some web traffic, but that is what happens with conspiracy theories. And as things go with conspiracy theories, this theory has been overtaken by the facts."(hlnsydney)
